Not true. I live in Germany, also free health? care, and I just paid 2,000 euros for the procedure. It's only free if its necessary. Stick out ears is not something that has to be corrected.
I am 1 week past my surgery, and while it was more painful that I had thought, I am so happy I did it!!
Ears should look ... By: fpsurgeon. on 20 Jul 11, 13:08:42 Ears should look natural after surgery. I suspect you're describing what is more commonly known as a "telephone? ear" deformity (which is sometimes limited to the upper half only). Avoiding that look requires a certain awareness by the surgeon pre-op since certain anatomical configurations are more prone to that. It *can*, however, be avoided. It can also often be corrected post-op as an in-office procedure.

Does that mean that was a mistake from the surgeon. Because i've seen other cases and th ears look naturall after the surgery. Hope you understand what im trying to say. Please reply as quick as you can. Thank you.

Man, my ear ... By: TheRussianGlory. on 05 May 11, 23:59:51 Man, my ear destroyed my self esteem and made me a very closed up person for many years of my life. Only recently, in my final years of high school have I opened up and regained my confidence. Luckily as people grow up they mature and noone said anything about my ears for a couple of years now. Perhaps I'll still get the surgery done one day just to completely get rid off the? years of ridiculing and emotional scarring my ears caused.

It's a little bit more expensive than I thought, and the procedure looks a more invasive than I hoped for too. I wish they'd just work on my concha. It would be ... By: fpsurgeon. on 08 Nov 11, 22:41:15 It would be possible, but it would make the underside of the chin and neck look bizarre since the floor of mouth musculature--specifically the geniohyoid and genioglossus--would not be moved downward. The result would be a strange crescenteric depression of? the submentum behind the implant. Height is achieved instead with vertical sliding genioplasty surgery which moves a wedge of bone at the chin along with its attached muscles.

Depending on the ... By: fpsurgeon. on 20 Sep 10, 02:01:25 Depending on the implant material, the scar capsule may or may not be much of an issue. Solid silicone implants (i.e., Silastic) are relatively easy to remove. But I usually like to remove the implant and then wait for the chin to heal before placing a new one. That makes it a lot more reliable when choosing a new? size/shape.
Good vid. I had ... By: FreeBlago1. on 20 Sep 10, 01:26:07 Good vid. I had mento 10 years ago. My hairline has slightly receded since, making my chin area appear smaller again. Also, the implant has slightly shifted so it feels "cock-eyed". One side angles up, the other dips below the jawline. I am considering a new implant, slightly larger and definately more square (I was not offered a more square implant back then, just a rounded one). Is this difficult as scar tissue is formed around this implant in the cockeyed position?? Thanks.

Nothing (even your ... By: fpsurgeon. on 11 Dec 09, 01:47:12 Nothing (even your own? jaw bone) is indestructible. However, a fully healed chin implant is exceedingly resilient. A blow that would displace the implant is likely to be hard enough to break the patient's jaw. The implant would be the least of the patient's concerns at that point. I typically use solid silastic (a vulcanized silicone rubber). Once implanted and healed, it's almost impossible to feel that it's even there.
