I'm don't know where you heard? this, but I'm sure it's incorrect. Especially considering Sony owns rights to the Spider-man movies, while Fox has the rights to Kingpin due to him being in Daredevil. And thus making him off limits for a Spider-man film.

Plus they have to introduce Eddie Brock and develop his hatred for Spider-man. I don't think they should try to do all that in one movie. Spider-man tried to do so and failed miserably.
