You may not need gas but the majority of the united states electricity still comes from coal burning power plants (not much better) while a small portion is solar wind and hydro. I think we are headed in the right direction but need refinement so as to reach a real solution.

No, the song is about how the singer's (and songwriter's) ex-girlfriend at the time (who he ended up marrying) was having him drive her all of the place after they had broken up. The song? was partly his way of expressing how he felt about that and telling her that the only reason why he agreed to be her "vehicle" was because he loved her.
