They "refused" to admit they're religious because they're not a christian rock band. Just because the individuals are christians doesn't make them a christian rock band. They refused to identify as such and never signed to a christian label (wich is relevant despite your belief) is because they weren't aiming to appeal to just christians. Also, what "deeply religious" person takes their gods name in vain?? None of them. Casualy religious people do it all the time. Not deeply religious types.
